Reading: Phonetics and Blending

Making reading a habit has always been our focus and to support the learners are immersed in phonetics right from pre-kindergarten. The phonetics program is structured in a spiralling manner where we start with identification of letter sounds at pre-kindergarten level moving on to blending and reading simple sentences in Prep II (Upper kindergarten). The program is made engaging using variety if active learning strategies from hand drawn activities to fun reading strategies. 

Introducing preschoolers to phonics has shown us evidence of improving their confidence in reading by decoding new words independently and thus eventually making reading part of their routine that they would like to follow.
